As Pastor of St. Paul Missionary
Baptist Church since 1971, Dr.
Ephraim Williams leads one of
the largest church congregations
in Sacramento. During his tenure,
the church has grown from approximately
100 members to over 5,000 members.
The church has 17 full and part-time
employees and more than 80 ministries
designed to meet the needs of
people and create opportunities
of growth for its members. The
church has two worship services,
mid-week Bible studies and a wide
range of ministries and programs
for men, women, youth, children,
seniors, singles and married couples.
A native of Summit, Mississippi,
Dr. Williams has been educated
in the states of Mississippi,
Illinois and California. His messages
are always Christ-centered and
Bible-based. In addition to his
pastoral experience, Dr. Williams
is highly sought after as a teacher,
lecturer, counselor and advisor.
He is considered a Pastor’s
Pastor.
As a true example of visionary
leadership, Dr. Ephraim Williams
has led St. Paul in the financing,
construction and debt liquidation
of a $7 million, 79,000 square
foot edifice. In 2006 St. Paul
completed the construction of
the Dr. Ephraim Williams Family
Life Center which is a $6 million,
39,000 square foot facility. This
multi-purpose Facility includes
offices, classrooms, athletic,
theatrical, childcare and banquet
space.
As a firm believer in community
involvement, Dr. Williams has
served in numerous religious and
civic organizations such as the
National Baptist Convention, USA
Inc, California State Baptist
Convention, United Pastors of
Sacramento, Northern District
Baptist Association, Southern
Baptist Convention, Sacramento
Urban League, NAACP, Sacramento
City Unified School District,
Women’s Civic Improvement
Center, State President of California
State Baptist Convention, Moderator
of Northern District Association,
and Sacramento Black Alcoholism
Center to name a few.
Dr. Williams has received numerous
awards and recognition from local,
state and national organizations.
He was invited by the 42nd United
States President, William Jefferson
Clinton, to participate in dialogue
regarding issues impacting the
African American community.
Dr. Williams’s wife, Carrie
Sue Martin-Williams, went to be
with the Lord on May 6, 2009,
they shared life and ministry
together for more than 55 years.
They are the parents of two children,
Gwen and Ephraim "Butch,"
Jr. (deceased), four grandchildren
and nine great-grandchildren.
