For 35 years Dr. Ephraim Williams
has maintained his commitment
to evangelism, missions, prayer
and outreach. As senior pastor
of St. Paul Baptist Church since
1971, Dr. Williams leads one of
the largest church congregations
in Sacramento, California. The
church has grown from approximately
125 members to over 5000 members.
The church currently has 18 full
and part time employees and more
than 90 ministries. The church
has two worship services, one
corporate bible study, and weekly
bible studies on Tuesday, Wednesday
and Thursday.
A native of Summit Mississippi,
he was the fifth child of Thornton
and Hilda Williams. He received
his formal education in Chicago
and California. He has completed
formal studies at seminaries and
bible colleges. As an inspiring
and motivational workshop lecturer,
his lecturers are based by 35
years of Pastoral experience and
nearly 20 years of corporate experience.
He is known for his expertise
in areas of Church Growth, Debt-Free
Living, Christian Doctrine, Ministerial
Ethics, Church Administration,
Marriage and Family Life, Church
and Congregation Life as well
as training pastors how to Disciple
men.
As a true believer in community,
Dr. Williams has led St. Paul
to develop the "St. Paul
Baptist Campus" with a vision
for a "St. Paul Village."
The St. Paul campus comprises
112,000-square feet of space which
includes the Worship Edifice and
the Dr. Ephraim Williams Family
Life Center. The campus includes
office space, conference rooms,
classrooms, worship space, wedding
chapel, industrial and satellite
kitchens, fellowship hall, choir
room, nursery and daycare center,
small banquet room, gym, weight
room, exercise room, recreation
room for children and youth, racquetball
court, computer lab, library and
bookstore.
A firm believer in community
involvement, Dr. Williams is affiliated
with the Sacramento Urban League
and NAACP. He currently serves
on the PG&E Community Advisory
Board. He is a former Board member
of St. Hope Academy and the Sacramento
County Revenue Sharing Board.
He is the former president of
the California State Baptist Convention,
United Pastors of Sacramento,
Sacramento Baptist Ministers Conference,
Moderator of the Northern District
Baptist Association and First
Vice-President California Southern
Baptist African-American Network.
Dr. Williams is the Chairman of
the Board of the St. Paul and
Oak Park Community Outreach Program,
the 501 ( c ) 3 outreach program
of the church.
Dr. Williams has received numerous
awards and recognition. In 1996,
he was invited by the 42nd U.S.
President William Jefferson Clinton
to participate in dialogue regarding
issues impacting the African-American
community. He has been a spiritual
advisor to local leaders in the
community and called upon to provide
strategic leadership with issues
impacting the city of Sacramento.
Dr. Williams has been married
to Carrie Sue (Martin) Williams
for 53 years. They had two children,
Gwen and Ephraim Jr. (deceased
December 11, 1990) and four grandchildren;
Nikiya, Tairena, Tenaya, and Marshall
Jr, and seven great grandchildren.
