GUIDELINES

POLICY - How the Church governs itself
This congregation is not bound by any other organization such as a District, State, or National Convention. The congregation is totally responsible for the financial obligations it makes. The clergy/congregation relationship is one of mutual support. The Deacon Ministry is responsible for working with and cooperating with the Pastor in ministering to the needs of the congregation on behalf of the Pastor.

RELATIONS WITH THE WIDER CHURCH COMMUNITY
St. Paul is actively involved in the wider church community through the following affiliations:

  • Sacramento Baptist Ministers Conference Northern District Baptist Association
  • United Pastors of Sacramento California Baptist State Convention
  • National Baptist Convention, U.S.A. Inc. Southern Baptist Convention (Local, State and National)

EXPECTATIONS OF CHURCH MEMBERS

  • Worship regularly.
  • Witness to others by sharing God's love for them.
  • Serve God and your neighbor faithfully and responsibly.
  • Share your time, spiritual gifts and talents and financial resources
(with tithes and offerings being the minimum).

THE ORDINANCES OF THE CHURCH BAPTISM
Every believer is to be baptized in obedience to Christ commandment (Matt. 28:19, 20). Baptism is by immersion in water (Acts 8:38). Faith in Jesus Christ is a prerequisite to baptism. Three truths are symbolized in the ordinance of baptism.

  • It points back to the burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  • It reflects the death of the old man, and the raising of the new man in Christ.
  • It expresses the hope of every believer, a glorious resurrected body when Christ returns.

"All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all."

Acts4:32-33
